Camp in the Community combines the programming excellence of our residential camps with the need in your congregation to outreach to those in your surrounding community. Working alongside your church leaders and volunteers, WIUMCamps summer staff facilitate a week-long day camp experience that provides fun, learning, and faith connection for the youth in your community. Meanwhile, your congregation is learning important skills for outreach into the community including marketing, volunteer development, Safe Sanctuaries policies and best practices, and more.

Camp in the Community brings the fun of the residential camp setting into your local community. Each day includes camp-style games, crafts, singing, worship, bible study, and more. WIUMCamps staff are trained in program design, United Methodist theology, risk management, child development, and community building while also serving as positive role models to participants. Volunteers from the congregation are utilized to recruit campers and families, serve delicious meals and snacks, and connect the congregation to the community families attending the program.

Camp in the Community is a tool to help congregations outreach into their communities through the week of programming and beyond. Through the nature of hosting the program, a congregation will learn about:

· Recruiting and utilizing adult volunteers in diverse skill areas

· Building readiness and personnel management as it applies to Safe Sanctuaries policies and best practices

· Family and youth programming utilizing a day camp model

Camp in the Community is designed as a three year progression in which congregations will set individual goals each year to continue to add tools to their outreach tool box, unique to their context and needs of their community.

Camp in the Community is limited each year to a select few congregations. Summer 2020 availability is filling fast! Interested congregations can learn more about the specifics of the Camp in the Community program and begin the application process by contacting

The WIUMCamps Camp in the Community program is now entering it’s fifth summer. We asked past participating churches what they would tell another church about the program:

Camp in the Community is well worth your time.  It’s really great to have trained, young staff members with a repertoire of games, songs, Bible study etc. to lead the week.  It is an excellent opportunity for kids to experience camp activities who might not be able to go to camp.  We love the opportunity! – Trinity UMC, Chippewa Falls

WE LOVED IT!  Great way to start a program where none is present. – Concordia UMC, Prairie du Sac

Do it! Well worth the investment.- Mt. Horeb UMC

Perfect program for an aging congregation to reach youth in the community. What an outstanding way to bring camp to children how may have never heard the Word. – Community UMC, Brooklyn
